GULF SHORE, Ala. – [SCHEDULE | RESULTS] The battle for the red banner at the 2022 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship concluded with Life (Ga.) taking home the banner from Gulf Shores, Ala. Friday night.

Shot put – Dylan Kucera, Midland (Neb.), 18.16

Pole vault – Tom Paris, Pole Vault, 5.00

Triple jump – Sibanda Dumoluhle, Cumberland (Tenn.), 15.45

Half marathon – Christian Colon, Life (Ga.), 1:09.06

4x800m relay – Indiana Wesleyan, 7:29.44

3k steeplechase – Shimales Abebe, Oklahoma City, 9:04.07

4x100m relay – Life (Ga.), 40.21

1500m run – Isaiah Wittrock, Grand View (Iowa), 3:51.57

110m hurdles – Glen Rodgers, Southeastern (Fla.), 13.83

100m – Phemelo Matlhabe, Life (Ga.), 10.08

400m hurdles – Will Reemtsma, St. Ambrose (Iowa), 50.74

400m – Ben Jefferies, Briar Cliff (Iowa), 46.02

800m – Senzo Sokhela, Westmont (Calif.), 1:51.04

200m – Phemelo Matlhabe, Life (Ga.), 20.48

5k – Tyler Dozzi, British Columbia, 14:38.31

4x400m relay – St. Mary (Kan.), 3:10.82

 

  • Christian Colon of Life (Ga.) won the half marathon with a time of 1:09.06. Alexander Dukes of Columbia (Mo.) followed just .34 seconds behind Colon.
  • Dylan Kucera of Midland (Neb.) won at the shot put with a mark of 18.16 on his fourth throw. This is the first shot put title for the Warriors.
  • Tom Paris of Keiser (Fla.) won the pole vault title with a mark of 5.00. This is the first pole vault title for Keiser.
  • Sibanda Dumoluhle of Cumberland (Tenn.) won the triple jump with a mark of 15.45. This is the first title for Cumberland in the triple jump.
  • Indiana Wesleyan with a team of Weston Kundo, Josh Felo, Chalie Young and Steven Ott won the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:29.44. This is the third title for IWU in the 4x8. The last time the Wildcats won was in 2018.
  • Shimales Abebe of Oklahoma City won the 3k steeplechase with a time of 9:04.07. This is the third consecutive steeplechase title for Oklahoma City.
  • Life (Ga.) with a team of Mark Anthony Hayes, Phemelo Matlhabe, Bgoni Chadyiwa and Marcin Jean-Francois won the 4x100 relay with a time of 40.21. This is the first 4x1 title for the running eagles.
  • Isaiah Wittrock of Grand View (Iowa) won the 1,500m with a time of 3:51.57. This is the first title for GVU in the 1,500.
  • Glen Rodgers of Southeastern (Fla.) won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.83. This is the first 110m hurdle title for SEU.
  • Phemelo Matlhabe of Life (Ga.) claimed the 100m title with a time of 10.08 and the 200m title with a time of 20.48. These are the first titles for Matlhabe.
  • Will Reemtsma of St. Ambrose (Iowa) won the 400m hurdles title with a time of 50.74. This was the first 400m hurdle title for SAU.
  • Ben Jefferies of Briar Cliff (Iowa) won the 400m title with a time of 46.02. This is the first 400m title for BCU
  • Senzo Sokhela of Westmont (Calif.) repeated as the 800m champion with a time of 1:51.04. This is Sokhela’s third career title.
  • Tyler Dozzi of British Columbia claimed the title in the 5k with a time of 14:38.31.The last time UBC won a 5k title was in 2019.
  • St. Mary (Kan.) with a team of Mark Noel, Torrey White, Jaylen Townes, Corey Lyons ran and won the 4x400m relay in 3:10.82. This is the first 4x4 title for St. Mary and second individual title for the school.
  • Life (Ga.), Southeastern (Fla.) and British Columbia battled for the top spot throughout day three. Life, however, after receiving points on six events (top marks in three of them) the Running Eagles took home the red banner with a total of 52 points.
