Chesney Sallee began her career with the NAIA in 2011 and has held various positions during her tenure. Currently Sallee is the Vice President of Member Value and Governance. Sallee and the Return on Athletics® (ROA) team lead the NAIA’s strategic efforts to enhance the NAIA value proposition and increase members’ return on their athletics programs by amplifying opportunities for enrollment, creating financial stability, and improving student success.

Sallee leads the legislative services department, which is tasked with interpretation, alignment and education of all NAIA rules and policies. Sallee also supervises student-athlete development efforts, including the Champions of Character® program and student-athlete health and wellness initiatives. In addition, Sallee serves as primary liaison to several key leadership groups throughout the NAIA governance structure to align priorities and guide objectives.

Sallee is active in Women Leaders in College Sports, a leading organization empowering and advancing women in college athletic administration. Sallee has served on various national committees and participated in several leadership development institutes. In 2017, Sallee was honored with the organization’s National Administrator of the Year award.

Beyond her roles at the NAIA, Sallee teaches in Baker University’s Master of Science in Sports Management program, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Midwest Innocence Project.

Sallee received her JD from the University of Kansas School of Law, along with a Business & Commerce Law Certificate, and was a visiting student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she focused in Sports Law. Prior to law school, Sallee attended Kansas State University, where she majored in print journalism and sociology/criminology.
